MRI of the Lumbar

Basics: What is an MRI of the Lumbar spine?

Back pain is one of the most common complaints voiced by patients today. Additionally, low back pain is the most common cause of job related disability and missed work. MRI can diagnose many different abnormalities of the lumbar spine, and can aid medical professionals in developing the best treatment plan possible.

The individual imaged above demonstrates severe degenerative disc disease and bilateral facet arthrosis at the L5-S1 level as well as moderate facet arthrosis at L4-L5 bilaterally. Mild degenerative narrowing of the right L5-S1 neural foramen can also be seen.
